Na’eem Butler Is Charged With The Death Of Diamonte Lewis

Jamiesfeast – Na’eem Butler, a 20-year-old resident of Herndon, has been extradited from State College, Pennsylvania to Washington, D.C. The Metropolitan Police Department reported on February 7th that Butler has been charged with second-degree murder while armed.

Federal officials have reported that the recent arrest of an individual is directly linked to the arrest and charges faced by Alexandria resident Ashton Inabinet a few weeks ago.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, the fatal event took place in front of Nellie’s Sports Bar on U Street NW. Gunshots were heard in the 900 block of U Street, close to where it meets with 9th Street NW. When the police arrived, they found Lewis dead from a gunshot wound. At the scene, they said he was dead.

In December, Inabinet was arrested, and since then, investigators have been actively looking for a second suspect. This suspect has now been identified as Butler, who was apprehended in Pennsylvania before being transported back to DC to face the charge.

According to NBC Washington, Lewis was celebrating his birthday that night.

In DC Superior Court, Inabinet, a student from West Potomac High School in Alexandria, was arraigned and charged with second-degree murder while armed. Butler, on the other hand, is also facing a murder charge. The police have not released any information about his initial court appearance.
