Man Charged In Jersey City Murder Of Kindergarten Teacher Maintains Innocence During Court Proceedings

Jamiesfeast – According to his lawyer, the man accused of murdering a 33-year-old Jersey City kindergarten teacher in 2023 is maintaining his innocence.

Cesar Santana, one of the two people charged with Luz Hernandez’s death, went to court Monday morning in Hudson County. He will have to wait 42 days before he can go back to court.

His body was found in a small grave in Kearny on February 7, 2023. Hernandez was choked and had a blow to the head, according to the autopsy. Three days later, Santana was caught.

Santana was brought into court on Monday for a disposition hearing. Edward Bilinkas, his lawyer, asked for 30 to 45 more days to finish the discovery process, especially to have DNA evidence looked at by experts.

“We were given the prosecutors’ DNA analysis last week.” Once more, there are a lot of papers to back up, some with hundreds of pages. “I’ve been giving them to a professional to look over,” Bilinkas said.

The judge gave the extra time, and the lawyers didn’t say anything against it.

Christmas is back in court on March 18. He will stay in jail in Hudson County.

Lopez Leiner was also charged with killing Hernandez. Taking human parts and hiding them was charged against him. The 26-year-old is still on the run.
