Headaches Arise For Residents Of Kansas And Missouri Due To Mail Delivery Problems

Jamiesfeast – Steve DesBien noticed a decline in mail delivery to his glasses parts business, Optical Products, located in Kansas City. Concerned about the issue, he decided to open a post office box.

After encountering ongoing difficulties with receiving his mail, he decided to take matters into his own hands by acquiring a second post office box at an alternative location.

DesBien expressed how crucial cash flow is for any business, emphasizing that the checks she received from her customers did not translate into actual money. She acknowledged that cash flow serves as the lifeblood of a business, highlighting its significance in sustaining operations and ensuring financial stability.

DesBien mentioned that he has encountered problems with mail service, but he has found that certain locations offer better service. His preferred location is the post office box at the Waldo branch, specifically located at 119 West Gregory Boulevard.

According to the speaker, the efficiency of the postal service should not be blamed for any potential delays in delivery. Instead, the issue lies in the transportation between different stations.

Chase Arnold, a resident of southern Overland Park, Kansas, is currently grappling with the issue of inconsistent mail delivery. Despite reaching out to the United States Postal Service, his family has yet to receive any satisfactory answers.

“It’s incredibly frustrating,” he expressed his dissatisfaction. “You always hear about the United States Postal Service, how they’re always there, rain or shine, delivering mail. But when the weather hasn’t been too bad, they’re nowhere to be seen.”

Postal employees at the same post office as Arnold have informed other people about the delays caused by short staffing.

The ongoing problems have caught the attention of the U.S. Congress.

Missouri Representative Emanuel Cleaver and Kansas Representative Sharice Davids recently penned a letter to President Joe Biden expressing their concerns about delivery issues that constituents have been facing.

The request to President Biden was to appoint two individuals as members to the USPS Board of Governors and to halt the increase in the cost of mail services. Just last month, there was a two-cent hike in the price of a first-class mail forever stamp, bringing it up to 68 cents.

The USPS has issued the following statement:

The Postal Service is dedicated to delivering excellent service to our customers, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that may have been caused. Local management and district leadership are well aware of the delivery issues in the Kansas City Metro Area and are actively taking measures to address these concerns.

If you’ve been experiencing problems with your mail delivery, we strongly urge you to get in touch with the agency through their online platform.

In August 2023, the USPS’s Office of Inspector General conducted an audit on delivery in the Kansas City area as requested by Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley. The findings of the audit were released by the Office of Inspector General.

The report identified several issues and recommended that managers reassess the staffing situation and create a strategy to retain employees.

Congressmen Sam Graves and Cleaver are urging for a thorough investigation into the delivery problems faced by residents in the Northland area.
