Feds: Half-Baked Convict Admits To Illegally Possessing USPS “arrow” Keys and Stolen Checks in Maryland

Jamiesfeast – Andrew Steven Martin, a 30-year-old resident of Silver Spring, has admitted to unlawfully possessing US Postal Service keys that are used to access mail receptacles. Additionally, he has been found guilty of being a felon in possession of ammunition, according to Erek L. Barron, the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland.

On May 17, 2022, Martin faced charges after a Gaithersburg Police officer conducted a traffic stop and found a bag of marijuana in the center vehicle console, along with a half-smoked joint of marijuana.

The officer discovered two USPS “arrow” keys, with one of them being able to unlock two collection boxes situated outside the Reisterstown Post Office, as stated by Barron.

During the search of Martin’s vehicle’s back seat, several items were discovered. These included a stack of credit cards that did not belong to Martin, two ID cards with different names (one of which had Martin’s picture), and around 42 checks that were not in Martin’s name.

Investigators discovered additional items in the center console near the floorboard. These included multiple checks that were not in Martin’s name, as well as five debit cards. They also found a loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol with ten rounds of 9mm ammunition, and a pill bottle containing 27 tablets, which were later determined to be a combination of heroin and fentanyl.

Martin was arrested on an open warrant after investigators discovered a stash of 47 personal checks and two cashier’s checks, amounting to around $80,164.89, inside his vehicle.

Martin has scheduled his appointment for Tuesday, April 30.

The investigation received assistance from the US Postal Inspection Service, the Montgomery County Police Department, and the Gaithersburg City Police Department.
