A Teen Robs A Woman In Her Car At Gunpoint, Causing Four Pittsburgh Schools To Be Locked Down: Police

Jamiesfeast – An armed robbery in Homewood on Tuesday prompted a SWAT reaction and placed four schools on lockdown.

Dispatchers confirmed that emergency services were dispatched to the 7000 block of Hermitage Street at 1 p.m.

A Pittsburgh police spokesperson informed Channel 11 that a juvenile teenager approached a woman in her car, displayed a gun, and attempted to rob her.

Police say the guy then went into a nearby home less than a block from Westinghouse High School. It’s not apparent whether this was his home or a random house.

A SWAT team worked for nearly an hour to securely remove everyone from the residence and communicate with the teen.

The teenager was apprehended. He has not yet been recognized, but we do know that he will face adult criminal charges.

A second male inside the home also surrendered to the authorities. He was arrested on charges unrelated to the armed robbery and transported to the Allegheny County Jail.

A spokesman for Pittsburgh Public Schools confirmed to Channel 11 that Pittsburgh Westinghouse, Pittsburgh Student Achievement Center, Pittsburgh Faison, and Crescent Early Childhood Center were all under lockdown. According to the police, all schools were dismissed without incident.
