Jamiesfeast – On Saturday, a troubled man who had barricaded himself in a Hackensack apartment was apprehended by the Bergen County Regional SWAT team.
On the morning of January 27th, a 21-year-old man’s girlfriend contacted the police regarding an incident at an apartment on Newman Street in the Oratam Court development, located between Atlantic and Sussex streets. It is worth mentioning that this housing project holds the distinction of being the city’s inaugural public housing initiative, established back in 1951.
Upon their arrival, they discovered a compelling sight – the front door was obstructed by an assortment of objects.
According to a law enforcement source familiar with the incident, the SWAT team was activated at approximately noon. They proceeded to enter the apartment at around 2 p.m., where they successfully subdued the man using pepper spray and safely extracted him from the bathroom.
A video captures the moment when the SWAT team members carefully carry the man out of the building.
A team of responders transported the young man to Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus for both medical treatment of the chemical exposure and a psychological evaluation.
There were no other injuries reported at the time.
