Jamiesfeast – The NYPD expressed their sorrow over the passing of Auxiliary Sgt. Tony Gray in a heartfelt post on the 122nd Precinct’s X page, previously known as Twitter.
According to a tweet, 32-year-old Gray, a father of two girls, started his auxiliary career at the 122nd Precinct in 2008. He had been fighting an illness for several months.
According to the funeral home, he passed away on February 3rd.
A mourner expressed their condolences to the family on a GoFundMe page that was set up to assist Gray’s family with medical expenses. They stated, “Tony, you will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, brother.”
Gray is fondly remembered in the fundraiser for his innate ability to effortlessly entertain with his wit and showcase his brilliant intellect.
Another individual who contributed to the fundraiser expressed their sadness over the loss, stating, “He will be greatly missed.”
By February 7th, the fundraiser had raised $14,000 out of its $25,000 goal.
The 122nd Precinct expressed their condolences, writing on X, “May he rest in peace.”
According to the NYPD website, the volunteer auxiliary police are committed civilians who support their local police precincts in non-enforcement tasks. These tasks include patrolling housing developments and transit districts, as well as serving as the “eyes and ears” of the neighborhood.
