Tennessee Governor Lee Promises More Troops to Help Texas Border Security During The Crisis

Jamiesfeast – Bill Lee, the governor of Tennessee, recently went to Eagle Pass, Texas, to talk about the situation at the border. In his words, it was the worst thing the US had seen in decades. Along with Texas Governor Greg Abbott and 12 other governors, they talked about how to improve security at the state level because they thought the federal government was not doing enough. Governor Lee said he would send two more groups of Tennessee National Guard troops to help Texas protect its borders.

The governor, Lee, talked about his worries about what he called the “open border policy.” He said this was connected to more crime, drug theft, and the trafficking of people. He said that something had to be done right away and that state leaders had to help secure the southern border. Besides that, he said that two groups of Tennessee troops would be sent to help Texas.

With assistance from Texas, the Tennessee Department of Military is making plans for the move. Within sixty days, the first group of soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard should be sent to the border. This keeps Tennessee’s history of helping Texas protect its borders alive.

Even though Tennessee has been criticized, it has always provided resources to deal with the rise in illegal crossings, drug trafficking, and the trafficking of people. Tennesse has sent a lot of soldiers to the southern border over the last three years. At the moment, more than 125 soldiers from the 1175th Transportation Company of the Tennessee National Guard are finishing a year-long deployment where they mostly helped U.S. Customs and Border Protection with monitoring.

There were governors from Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and Utah at the briefing on the border situation.
