Jamiesfeast – The Indianapolis community is growing increasingly fearful following the discovery of two women’s bodies within a mere 150 yards of each other, and only a week apart.
Indiana Police interim police chief Christopher Bailey has acknowledged that there are “similarities in these two cases”, although it is still unclear whether the two deaths are connected.
Justin Smith, Lassere’s son, referred to her as “the most incredible woman I’ve ever known.”
According to Fox59, he expressed his disapproval of the way they took her, stating that it was callous and that she didn’t deserve it. Additionally, he mentioned that she wouldn’t have done anything to provoke such an action.
According to a statement from the IMPD, both incidents occurred within days of each other, and both victims were white females in their 50s. Tragically, they were both killed in the same manner.
The police have not disclosed any information regarding potential suspects or the manner in which the two women were killed in the incidents.
During a press conference, Mr. Bailey emphasized that there are certain aspects of the investigation that cannot be discussed at the moment in order to maintain its integrity.
The news of the two women’s deaths has left the local community in shock. Donna Spears, a resident of Mitthoefer Road for 40 years, expressed her feelings of fear and sadness upon hearing about these eerily similar incidents.
She mentioned that she prefers to walk whenever she needs to go somewhere, but she has decided to stop walking alone at night.
Greg Hopkins, a long-time resident of the area, expressed his shock over the two killings that occurred. Having lived in the area for over 30 years, Hopkins shared his disbelief with Fox59.
“It’s absolutely sickening to think that someone would do such a thing to another person,” expressed Mr. Hopkins.
The IMPD has announced their intention to step up patrols in the area and is urging community members to review their surveillance footage and report any suspicious activity.
During the press conference, Captain Roger Spurgeon of IMPD emphasized the importance of public assistance in determining whether these crimes are linked. He stated, “We don’t know if these crimes are connected at this point, and that’s why we’re asking for the public’s help.”
“We are seeking any information regarding these victims or their whereabouts leading up to their deaths. If you have any knowledge or surveillance footage capturing any suspicious activity in the vicinity, we urge you to share it with us.”
The investigators are collaborating closely with the Marion County Forensic Services Agency to explore the possibility of recovering any forensic evidence from the scene.
Mr. Bailey issued a warning to the local community, urging them to take additional precautions for their safety during this period.
Mr. Bailey emphasized the importance of being accompanied by someone at night, if possible, and being vigilant about one’s surroundings.
“Ensure that someone is aware of your whereabouts. It is crucial to have a means of communication in case of an emergency or to know the appropriate place to seek assistance.”
Multiple units, including the IMPD homicide unit, are actively investigating these cases, according to the police.
